friday exercise of the day
Stability Ball Cobra
Back pain is one of the most common body problems faced by adults. Most back injuries happen to people with low activity lifestyles and/or poor posture who therefore have weak back stabilisation and movement muscles.
The stability ball cobra is a great exercise to strengthen up these weak muscles and protect your back from injury.
To complete this exercise all you need is a stability ball (it can also be performed on the floor - without a stability ball)
-
Lie face down on a stability ball with the ball under your stomach.
-
Put your arms by your sides with your palms facing upwards.
-
Lift your upper body up as high as is comfortable and turn your arms so palms face downwards.
-
Squeeze your shoulder blades together and hold the position for 2-3 seconds at the top of your movement.
-
Lower your upper body almost to the floor. Your hands should turn back to palms up.
Try to do 3 sets of 12-15 repetitions. Feel the burn!
