To train his body to perform at such high speeds Usain does a combination of plyometric training and lots of work in the weight room.

A typical workout could involve heavy weighted squats and lunges (to build functional muscular strength), fast hops, jumps, bounds to improve power and rate of force production. Also sprint drills such as high knee running or hurdles to name just a couple.

Resting and relaxation is very important in this type of training programme as the muscles must be fully rested to perform at such high intensity.

To keep his body in top condition Usain eats a high energy, high protein diet.
